A 40 year old man dies after an Electric bike or the EV bike exploded in Andhra Pradesh. The battery of his brand new EV bike exploded that erupted a massive fire leaving him dead. His wife sustained severe burn injuries and his children were also in a critical condition. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday in his bedroom where had parked his new EV bike, in Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police reports, the wife suffered severe burns and was in a critical condition in the hospital whereas his two children suffered from asphyxiation but are in a stable condition now. The victim has been identified as K Siva Kumar who bought his new bike on Friday. The battery of the bike was detachable and was kept on charge when it suddenly exploded , thus killing him and leaving others injured.
As per reports, the explosion resulted in huge flames coming out of the house as the other electronic items were also on fire. The neighbours broke down the door and somehow pulled everyone out. While they were taken to the hospital, K Siva Kumar died.
According to reports, the police said, “the exact cause of the explosion is not known. Fire services personnel also visited the scene to determine the cause. We have also spoken to the EV company to check whether electric short circuit could be the reason for the battery explosion.”
A similar incident occurred in Telengana, wherein an EV bike battery exploded leaving an 80 year old man dead.
Many cases has been reported of EV bike battery being exploded in different parts of the country including, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and others. These recent accidents has left the citizens of india concerned about the safety issues of the detachable EV batteries.
