On Saturday, December 18, DRDO successfully tested an advanced variant of the Agni class of missiles called ‘Agni P’ from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha at 11:06 AM on December 18, 2021. According to the press release by the DRDO, various telemetry, radar, electro-optical stations and downrange ships positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile trajectory and parameters. The missile followed text book trajectory meeting all mission objectives with a high level of accuracy.
Nuclear Capabilities
Officials said, the new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile, named Agni P, can strike targets at a maximum range of 2,000 km and will further strengthen India’s credible deterrence capabilities.
About Agni P Missile
The press release further said that the Agni P is a two-stage canisterised solid-propellant ballistic missile with dual redundant navigation and guidance system. This second flight test has proven the reliable performance of all the advanced technologies integrated into the system.
Defense minister Rajnath Singh complimented the DRDO for the successful flight test of the new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile, named Agni P.
