The Dibrugarh University has clarified that the college authorities shall not roll back on their decision of fee hike for the academic session 2022 to 2023.

The college authority recently announced a hike in fees for their courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. This decision taken by the college led to massive protests in the student community.

On Tuesday, members Post Graduate Students’ Union of the University staged a massive protest against the said decision of fees hike. The fees has been hiked from – Rs.4,489 to Rs. 5982 for Arts; Rs. 6,918 to Rs. 9,194 for Science and Rs. 6,913 to Rs. 9,194 for the academic session 2022 to 2023.
The Dibrugarh University VC Jiten Hazarika said, “There has been no change in fees structure in Dibrugarh University in the last 12 years. It is just a nominal hike and no one feels happy to hike the fees but we have been compelled to take the decision due to rising costs and inflation.”
