Chopper crash: An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat on board crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu amidst the bushes in the Nilgiris forest region on December 8.

At least four persons were killed in the mishap that happened reportedly due to low visibility on account of foggy conditions, in a news report by PTI.

Three persons have been rescued from the spot and rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
However, no immediate information on the condition of General Rawat was found.
Efforts made
The local military officers have reached the location. Efforts are on to retrieve the bodies and check identities.
According to the reports, the CDS was on his way to the Defence Staff College in Wellington. He was sought to give a lecture there at 2.45pm.
The helicopter had a total of 14 passengers including the wife of CDS Bipin Rawat.
An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the incident.
