Three people have been arrested in Chennai, including two sisters aged 28 and 30 and a 48-year-old man who runs a small shop, for the alleged serial rape and sexual assault of five minor girls aged four to thirteen, police said on Monday.
As a result of a tip-off, Perumal’s shop was raided by the police. During the raid, police were able to obtain his mobile phone to find out who supplied him with gutka.
Initial Investigation
There were over 50 rape videos in the phone’s photo gallery, according to police. Initially, the police believed that Perumal had downloaded child porn videos, but upon closer inspection, it was discovered that Perumal was the one engaging in the act.
Interrogating the accused
It was discovered that Perumal had been sexually abusing minor girls for the past six months when he was interrogated by a police team led by Kilpauk and Karthikeyan. Two sisters were implicated as co-conspirators in the crime, and he claimed that they had even allowed him to rape their daughter.
Revealing the shocking truth
Perumal claimed that he was involved in a relationship with one of the women. The women, according to Karthikeyan, allowed Perumal to rape their daughters in exchange for the goods they purchased from his shop. Perumal filmed three other girls who were friends with the two minor girls. They were too young to understand what had happened to them, according to the police.
Three other parents told police that the two women used to take care of their daughters when they went to work. All three are being held in judicial custody, with the women being held in Puzhal central prison and Perumal being held at the Chengalpet sub-jail.
