During a temple chariot procession in Tamil Nadu, as many as 11 people including children died due to electrocution on Wednesday. The incident occurred in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu when a high tension transmission line came in contact with the chariot.

As per the reports from the Police officials, a total of 15 people were severely injured during the incident. As a good will gesture out of this unfortunate accident, Tamil Nadu chief minister handed over a sum of 5 lakh to each of the victim’s family for the assistance of the deceased.
The incident was reported during the early hours of Wednesday when the chariot procession was carried out near the Kalimedu village.
According to police report, “the temple car was at a bending trying to turn when it faced some obstacle and reversed. While reversing the chariot came in contact with the overhead line and went up in flames.”
As many as 11 people were thrown out of chariot during the accident and electrocuted. They were then immediately taken to Thanjavur Medical College.
