The Government of India has decided to extent the cease fire agreement with the Naga Groups. The decision has been made for the three naga insurent groups for an extension of another year.
Ceasefire agreement
The groups have been reported as Socialist Council of Nagaland/NK (NSCN/NK), Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland/Reformation (NSCN/R), and National Socialist Council of Nagaland / K-Khango (NSCN/K-Khango)
the groups are mostly factions of NSCN IM and NSCN K. These two groups have already signed an agreement declaring ceasefire.
According to statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs, ‘the ceasefire agreements were extended from April 28, 2022 to 27 April 2023 with the fraction groups. The agreement was signed yesterday.
The general secretary TH Muivah met with the NSCN IM to discuss the terms of agreement in Dimapur. Mishra who is the current director of Intelligence Bureau, and the one who had recently replaced RN Ravi arrived in the state so as to discuss the agreement and also to solve some of the potent issues of Terrorism in Nagaland. He met with some of the top officials of the state government and also the leader of Nagaland National Political groups.
The meeting was schedule to have discuusion over the long drawn peace talks which has been in a roadblock since 2019.
