On August 8, Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi has been delegated to Bodoland territorial region as the leader of the new Congress committee.

Under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi, Bhupen Kumar Borah of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (AAPC) composed a committee to discuss the issues in the Bodo Territorial Region(BTR), sources said.

Other members in Lok sabha
In Lok Sabha, the other members of the committee besides the Deputy Leader of the party are Bisti Basumatary, Abdus Sobhan Ali Sarkar, Shankar Prasad Roy, Jewel Tudu, MLAs Jadav Swargiary, and Klengdon Ingti.
Protest by Congress party
Earlier, at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati, Assam’s Indian National Congress Party protested, reportedly against a price hike.
In response to the rising cost of living, the Congress party started protesting in Rajiv Bhavan, says report.

The APCC asked the government to halt the price hike of all necessary items and start working towards bringing the price hike under a limit so common people can live their lives without bearing the brunt of it.

In the middle of the ongoing pandemic, which has brought turmoil into the lives of common people from every extent, the Assam Pradesh Congress Party stated that the huge price hike on day-to-day commodities had affected the people of Assam at a huge level. It has turned their lives upside down and made them live miserable lives.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has also requested the BJP led state administration for immediate action to look after the price hike in mostly all the commodities in the state.
Meanwhile, Guwahati Police apprehended the protestors in Rajiv Bhawan.
Congress has proposed three adjournment motions, the AIUDF, the CPI (M), and the opposition parties to debate the issue of rising diesel, cooking gas, fuel, and all other day-to-day commodities. But a report said the Speaker Biswajit Daimary refused to accept it.
