Members of the BJP from West and East Jaintia Hills have slammed a number of party dissidents who have been calling for the resignation of state BJP president Ernest Mawrie.
According to a report by The Shillong Times, the statement said, a meeting of the party’s executive committee was convened at Jowai on Thursday under the chairmanship of WJH party president Chaphrang Lyngdoh to “evaluate the acts of a few BJP dissidents on their campaign to depose the state party boss, Ernest Mawrie.”
According to a statement, a meeting of the party’s executive committee was convened at Jowai on Thursday under the chairmanship of WJH party president Chaphrang Lyngdoh to “evaluate the acts of a few BJP dissidents on their campaign to depose the state party boss, Ernest Mawrie.”

“The party is progressing more than ever today under the leadership of Ernest Mawrie,” the BJP officials from Jaintia Hills said, expressing their support for the state party president. His strong attitude instils among Morcha and Mandal leaders a sense of responsibility to win the most seats possible in the upcoming elections.”
The saffron party leaders also said that criticising Mawrie is unjustified because the latter has made concerted attempts to resurrect the party as a fighting force in the state, thanks to his “passion and dedication.”
It’s worth noting that a dissident group of BJP leaders just relaunched their push for Mawrie’s removal after a five-month hiatus.
The dissidents have resolved to issue an ultimatum to the BJP’s central leaders, demanding a change of leadership and threatening mass resignations if the central leaders do not act.
