India’s Manika Batra and G. Sathiyan enters final of World Table Tennis Contender Budapest

Batra and Sathiyan won the spot to enter the finals of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Budapest against Belarussian pair of Aleksandr and Daria Trigolos.

At the WTT Contender Budapest on Thursday, India’s Manika Batra and G. Sathiyan secured the spot to enter the finals after an amazing performance against Aleksandr and Daria Trigolos from Belarus with 11-6, 11-5 and 11-4.

Later on, the Indian duo will go up against Nandor Ecski and Dora Madarasz from Hungary who has previously defeated Kirill Skachkov and Olga Vorobeva of Russia 11-5, 11-9, 11-8 in the semifinal.

Moreover, Sathiyana and Batra have great chemistry honing their skills while their receive was sharp and neat, almost intimidating the Belarussian pair with their techniques as they appeared to be quite confused.  In all three games, the Indians have a minimum cushion of 3 points.

Men’s double shows their competitive spirit

In the men’s double semi-finals, India’s Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar lost their spot against Russian Duo Vladimir Sidorenko and Kirill Skachkov of Russia at  11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-6.

Although Harmeet made a few mistakes during the rallies, Manav carried the two, attacking and blocking with accuracy. Sadly, leading 8-6 in the fourth game, Skachkov ended the game against the Indians.

However, Manav and Harmeet didn’t back down and kept their competitive spirits alive throughout the game despite their loss.
