As per information, one Inter-state carjacker is in custody of Basistha Police in Guwahati.
The accused has been identified as Jayanta Kumar Das who is from Tripura.
The police are interrogating him at Basistha Police Station.
The carjacker was arrested from Nagaland
According to reports, Jayanta Kumar Das was arrested from Nagaland. He was operating a car dealership in the entire Northeast.
He was involved in a car dealership. He used to sell four-wheeler vehicles to customers and in return assured them of renting it out in the market. Later he sold them to another customer from a different state.
An FIR was lodged against him at a police station in Guwahati by one of his victims named Tapan Kalita.
He was cheated by Das with the excuse of renting out his four-wheeler in a similar fashion. Based on the complaint the police arrested Jayanta from Nagaland.
Jayanta Kumar Das was also arrested previously by both Tripura and Nagaland police for allegedly deceiving people with lies of renting their cars in the market.
However, he was thereafter released on bail.
