Micro plastic has been found in blue mussels in variable concentration by Australian researchers. These micro plastic have also traced in the water bodies as well. The findings have been mainly in some of the secluded beaches.

This means that mussels that people consume are no longer safe. These luxurious sea food that people often catch in the ocean or in other water bodies have traces of micro plastic in them.

Researchers of Flinders University has made a warning to the people that the once prestine gulf waters are no longer safe from plastic.

what are microplastics

These are basically 5mm long plastic which is non bio degradable. Hence it has a long term effect on the environment and health. Surprisingly, plastics have been found in Mount Everest as well.

According to one of the Professor Karen Burke da Silva, “our findings shed light on the urgent need to prevent micro plastic pollution by working with the communities, industries and government to protect these fragile marine systems.”

As per reports, the single use plastics has the worst effect on the environment at large. A research team found that microplastics has been found in many mussel samples that are usually taken from areas near town and cities. Now the main concern that arises is that these microplastics has found a way into the human body which can have a severe impact on ones health condition.
