As per reports, Silchar in Assam will soon have an international airport.
Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy said, the formalities related to the construction of the airport have been completed.
Silchar airport would be set up covering 870 acres
Reportedly, Silchar airport will be set up in an area spreading almost over 870 acres.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was about to announce the project during his visit to Barak valley.
MP Rajdeep Roy while speaking to the media about this said that the Center has already given its nod to the construction of an international airport in Silchar.
Various formalities related to the project have been completed. However he said, “Issues related to the site selection are there, but will be resolved shortly.”
South Assam has a domestic airport at Kumbhirgram, which is 29 km from Silchar.
It is the fourth busiest airport in the northeast after Guwahati, Agartala and Imphal.
