Assam police declared a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs against four wanted Rhino poachers.
Assam police have announced rewards for inputs leading to the arrests of wanted poachers.

GP singh, Special DGP (Law & Order), Director V&AC & Chief Anti-Rhino Poaching Task Force of Assam, tweeted the announcement, “WANTED FOR RHINO POACHING REWARD OF Rs 2 Lacs – for information leading to arrest of each of them.”
He also added, “REWARD OF Rs 5 Lacs for information leading to recovery of poached Rhino horn”.

About the poachers
GP Singh also uploaded the pictures of three wanted Rhino poachers. They are residents of Assam’s Biswanath district, reportedly.
They have been identified as Ataur Rahman (35) alias Bassa, Abdul Matin (36) aka Kala and Asmat Ali (35) aka Nalco.

Assam’s Rhino poaching was at its peak in 2013 and 2014. A total of 27 rhinos were killed in each of the two years.

In 2021, the state government formed the Anti-Poaching Task Force to keep a check on rhino poaching in Kaziranga National Park.
However, Assam after many years witnessed one solitary case of rhino poaching in 2021.
This is the lowest number of cases the state has seen in 21 years. As per information, Assam is home to the largest population of one-horned rhinos in India.
