GOLAGHAT: On June 14, wild elephants fatally trampled Rita Tanti and her son at their home in Bogidhala Tea Estate, under the Numaligharh Police station area.
Same night, elephants also left 22 families homeless as they destroyed homes in nearby Doigrung, Letekujan, Madhabpur, and Sundarpur tea estate.
Such cases make Assam a global hotspot for human-elephant conflict as it has killed many people in the past two years in the greater Numaligharh area.
