Considering the current Covid situation Guwahati Municipal Corporation(GMC) has banned all the Hookah bars of the city. This is to be carried out until further order.
Also, anyone violating the same will be prosecuted under provisions of law. After an inspection, GMC concluded that hookah was being served along with other services without ethical demarcation for smoking and non-smoking area.
Well adherence to regulations as per the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act(COTPA) 2003, was not precisely inferred. Currently, 7 hookah bars are being registered in Guwahati and they are Addicted, Cloud 7, Hideout, Hotel Palacio, Rush Entertainment, INV Enterprise, and By The Way.
