Assam’s Directorate of Land Records and Surveys
Mr. Henry Zouch Derrah, IACS was the first Director of the Directorate of Land Records & Surveys etc., Assam, which was formed in 1887 as the Directorate of Land Records & Agriculture.
Since 1998, the Directorate of Land Records & Surveys etc., Assam has been housed in its own facility, the “Rajah Bhawan,” in Rupnagar, Guwahati-32.
Apart from Rupnagar, where the Director of Land Records and Surveys is based, Assam operates from three (three) other locations: Beltola’s Vendyking Section, Dakhingaon’s Survey & Printing Section, and Santipur’s Khamal.
Assam’s Directorate of Land Records & Surveys, among other things, is in charge of Land Records and Surveys. The Directorate is principally responsible for the preservation and maintenance of international boundary pillars, as well as the upkeep of interstate and interdistrict boundaries, and eventually the cadastral survey of all NC villages, with assistance and advice from the Government of India.
It is also responsible for keeping track of landowners’ rights and carrying out re-settlement operations in accordance with the ALRR of 1886.

Educational Qualification and Eligibility Criteria for Faculty Vacancy:
Qualification:
i) Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university having two years certificate course from ITI in Drawing, Drafting / Mapping, AutoCAD training in Mapping /Drawing ii) GIS, GPS, DGPS & ETS training completion certificate from ISO certified agency iii) Applicant must possess good communication skill in English, Assamese and Bengali fluently
iv) Diploma Course in Computer Application v) Applicant having minimum three years faculty experience from Govt. training institute in GIS, GPS, DGPS & ETS will be given preference
