The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma recently made a statement regarding the transfer of the recent arrests of the terror suspects to the National Investigation Agency.

Earlier this month, six people were arrested on the grounds of having links with the terror group, Al-Qaeda. The arrested individuals were nabbed from Assam’s Barpeta district.
The Chief Minister stated that the arrested individuals work on an all India network and the funding of these networks come from foreign countries.
As quoted from TimesNow, the chief minister said, “we want to transfer the case to the NIA. During the probe we found it is an all India network and is supported via foreign soil. We cannot approach Interpol without the Home Ministry.”
In addition, SP Amitava Sinha said that the arrested terrorists have links with the Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent. He said, “they were having links with Mohammed Suman alias Saiful Islam Harun Rashid, a member of AQIS.”
