Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam‘s Chief Minister Sunday gave officials instructions to ensure that state government employees receive their pensions on time, including starting the process a year before they reach retirement age.

Meeting headed by the Assam CM

According to an official statement, Sarma mandated that all pension-related papers be submitted electronically on the Kritagyata’ (pension payment and monitoring system) site while chairing a meeting of the Pension and Public Grievances Department here.

In all districts, Sewa Kendras (help centers) will be established for the online submission of pension-related paperwork.

Decision was taken in the meeting

At the meeting, it was decided that the Director of Pension would employ a digital signature to meet certain pension-related obligations.

It was also decided that, depending on the merits of the case, the director would be authorized to waive any government employee’s excess withdrawal of Rs 3 lakh.

According to the statement, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) would connect the Comprehensive Treasury Management Information System with the Kritagyata portal to allow for simultaneous operations by multiple functionaries for expedited pension disbursement.
