Assam CM invited to Bangladesh to strengthen ties between the two countries. Himanta Biswa Sarma recalled the contribution of Assam to the 1971 war of Liberation. He further stated that he is likely to visit to the country soon after the relations between the two are strengthened.

The Minister was interacting with a 25 member delegation of Muktijoddhas.

A tweet was shared by the Assam CM after meeting meeting the delegation on Monday evening. The tweet read, “Glad to meet a 25 member delegation of Muktijoddhas of Bangladesh who are on a 3 day visit to Guwahati and Shillong. The visit is a part of Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations organised by High Commission of India in Bangladesh and Act East Policy Affairs, GoA.”

India would be celebrating its 75th year of Independence and 50th year of victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war.

The Assam Chief Minister further states that he has received an invitation from Bangladesh government to visit their country.
