A 23-year-old youth was arrested at Sarala under the Kadamtala police station in the North Tripura district on Tuesday for reportedly having unnatural intercourse with a calf.
The youth is identified as Halim Uddin, a daily wage laborer from Kotamoni, Patharkandi in the Karimganj district of south Assam.

According to accounts, the incident occurred in the Bangaljum district of Sarla GP, where Halim was assigned to work as a laborer on a water supply project and allegedly carried the calf to a secluded location when no other worker was there.
However, when carrying the cow, a neighborhood child apparently noticed him and warned a few neighbors. Locals raced to the scene and allegedly saw him having intercourse with the animal.
Hence the residence apprehended him and reported him to the police.
A police crew from the Kadamtala police station arrived on the scene and arrested Halim after getting the information.
According to the sources, a case has been filed under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (unnatural offenses) and the relevant section of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
