Arunachal Pradesh tops states-by-state list of GST revenue growth, 2022

With a record 90 percent year-on-year growth in April 2022, Arunachal Pradesh topped the state-by-state list of GST revenue growth in the country.

Arunachal collected Rs 196 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in April this year, compared to Rs 103 crore in April 2021, according to data issued by the finance ministry on 1st May.

Moreover, Arunachal is followed by Ladakh in second place, with a 53 percent increase in GST revenue, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in third place, with a 44 percent year-on-year increase in April this year.

Meanwhile, in March 2022, Arunachal received Rs 105 crore in GST revenue, representing a 14 percent increase over the previous year. In March 2021, the state collected Rs 92 crore in GST.

Further, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the news on Twitter, congratulating Pema Khandu and deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on their milestone achievement.

“Good news for India is GST Revenue collection for April 2022 is a record Rs 1.68 lakh Cr. The great news is that Arunachal Pradesh recorded the highest GST collection in April 2022 with a 90% jump! Congratulations Arunachal led by CM @PemaKhanduBJP Ji & DyCM & FM @ChownaMeinBJP Ji,” Rijiju said.

In a social media post, Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the state’s accomplishment.

“A great news from Arunachal! Arunachal records the highest growth of GST revenue during April 2022 vis a vis April 2021. A record 90% jump in GST collection,” Khandu said in his tweet.
