The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Working President, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, and President, All India Mahila Congress, and ex-MP, Sushmita Dev stated in a statement on Tuesday criticized BJP Government for its mishandling of border issues as well as for failing to maintain law and order situation.
“The fact that Assam and Mizoram police resorted to violent clashes the very next day of meeting union home minister showed how seriously the northeastern CMs had treated that meeting. An exponent of divisive politics, it’s rather BJP which is fueling hatred and infighting in northeast states,” the Congress leader Susmita Dev said.
Giving reference to BJP leadership statement that “external force” was involved, the APCC demanded that if this is true, then it’s a matter of great concern and the home minister of India was answerable for this intelligence lapse.

APCC President accuses BJP- led Government “No plan to resolve a border dispute with Mizoram”
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah on Thursday said that the present Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Assam has “no plan to resolve a border dispute with Mizoram”.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly condemned the BJP’s irresponsible statement on Assam Mizoram border tension that the Congress party is fueling the violence by inciting statements.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Shillong to discuss
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah said that two days before the violent Assam-Mizoram border clash, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Shillong and discussed the inter-state border issue with chief ministers of all the north-eastern states.
Borah alleged Himanta Biswa Sarma to suppress previous incidents that happened along the Assam-Mizoram border
“Early in this month there was a massive explosion in the territory of Assam along the inter-state border, but the CM said that miscreants triggered the blast. He hid the facts as he wanted Amit Shah’s meeting to be successful and prove to everyone that he maintains good relations with other neighboring states,” he said.
Bhupen Borah questioned the credibility of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA)
“Everyone was hopeful that NEDA would take initiative to solve the border dispute as all ruling parties of the region are part of NEDA and the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is the chief of NEDA. However, now it seems the entire meeting was staged,” he said.
Who is accountable here for the deaths and encroachment on Assam’s land they questioned?” APCC questioned
“APCC slammed the saffron camp saying that both PM, Modi and home minister Amit Shah have refrained from making any public statement for people of NE India in this critical time. This is not an issue that impacts two CMs who can play games with FIRs and mudslinging through Twitter but the interest of the two states are in question. Accountability is a must in democracy. Who is accountable here for the deaths and encroachment on Assam’s land they questioned?” APCC questioned.
