On May 30, Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal founder-president Akhil Gogoi will visit Assam’s Barak Valley in order to enhance the party’s organizational structure in the valley.
Akhil Gogoi will begin his three-day journey to the Barak Valley in the Hailakandi district.
According to reports, the Raijor Dal Hailakandi District Committee met on May 16 to finalize preparations for Gogoi’s visit and address topics that need to be discussed with the party leader in order to develop the party in the district.
The meeting was attended by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti’s Hailakandi district committee president Sharif Uddin Mazarbhuiya, Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti’s central committee vice-president Farid Uddin Laskar, Raijor Dal’s Hailakandi assembly constituency president Jarjis Ahmed, general secretary Ali Hussain Laskar, Raijor Dal’s Hailakandi district committee working president Himangshu Goswami, vice-president Lutfur Rahman, and secretary Amit Nath.
Gogoi will arrive in Hailakandi on May 30 for a meeting with party workers, according to Raijor Dal central committee president Jahir Uddin Laskar.
“On that day, about 500 individuals will join the Raijor Dal, led by former Asom Gana Parishad leader and well-known Hailakandi social worker Kamrul Islam,” Laskar stated.
Laskar said, “Gogoi, as per schedule, will reach Silchar airport on May 30 morning and he will be received by the party’s Silchar unit members. From there, Gogoi will reach Dhaleshwar in the Hailakandi district where party members will receive him.
In addition, he said “A procession will be carried out from near Srikishan Sarada College and will conclude at Town Hall. At Town Hall, Gogoi will attend a party workers’ meeting and discuss various issues. Workers of different units of the party will take part in the meeting. Former AGP leader Kamrul Islam Barbhuiya along with a huge number of people will join the Raijor Dal on that day.”
On May 31 and June 1, the Sivasagar MLA will attend party meetings in Karimganj and Silchar, respectively.
Akhil Gogoi to have several party meetings during his visit
According to Laskar, Akhil Gogoi’s three-day tour and attendance at several party meetings are geared at formulating ways to enhance the Raijor Dal’s Barak Valley base.
“The party is slowly spreading throughout the regions and the Barak Valley. The workers would benefit greatly from Gogoi’s visit,” he stated.
On October 2, 2020, the Raijor Dal (People’s Party) was created. It entered the political arena for the first time in Assam’s 2021 assembly election. In the assembly election, the party ran for 29 seats and won one in Sivasagar.
