AdtU Celebrates 10th Convocation: Honoring Excellence and Achievements
Panikhaiti, Assam: The Assam down town University (AdtU) shone brightly as it commemorated its 10th Convocation, a grand event that celebrated academic brilliance and the dedication of its alumni. The distinguished ceremony, held on August 26 at the AdtU Campus in Panikhaiti, was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries, including His Excellency, the Governor of Assam.
The event commenced with a majestic procession of the members of the Governing Body, Board of Management, and the Academic Council of the University, along with the D. Litt (Honoris Causa) degree awardees, all adorned in traditional ceremonial robes. His Excellency’s arrival was accompanied by warm greetings from the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of AdtU, leading him through the Academic Procession to the Convocation Venue.
As the National Anthem resonated, a sense of patriotism swept through the gathering. Following the formal inauguration by His Excellency, the convocation was declared open. The cultural ambiance soared with AdtU’s invocation song, infusing tradition and enthusiasm into the event. The opening remarks exuded pride and gratitude, acknowledging the university’s milestones and the accomplishments of its outstanding graduates.
Highlighting the university’s achievements, the Vice Chancellor presented a comprehensive report, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor announced the prestigious D. Litt (Honoris Causa) degrees conferred upon Shri Arnab Goswami, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Republic Media Network, and Shri. Sharad Mehra, Chief Executive Officer (Asia Pacific), GUS Global Services. His Excellency personally bestowed this distinction, underscoring their significant contributions to academia.
The ceremony took a scholarly turn, recognizing the dedication of PhD scholars, including Mr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Ms. Maya Konwar, Ms. Shilpi Singh, Mr. Hrishikesh Sharma, and Mr. Ram Vinod Mahato, among others. The Pro-Vice Chancellor granted them their hard-earned Doctor of Philosophy degrees, formally inducting them under the auspices of His Excellency. The celebration continued as postgraduate and undergraduate students received their degrees from the Governor, symbolizing the fruition of their educational endeavors. The university awarded a total of 27 Ph.D. Degrees, 349 Postgraduate Degrees, and 1064 Undergraduate Degrees.
The Honorable Chancellor took the stage to present gold medals to exceptional students, including Ms. Tazmina Sultana Hussain and Ms. Jyotismita Sarma, Best Postgraduate and Best Undergraduate respectively. The Best Placement Achiever title was conferred upon Ms. Snehaa Dey, and an AdtU Alumni award for Inspirational Achievement 2023 was presented to Mr. Deewas Kharka, Project Manager at Stockland, Melbourne, Australia. The solemn Oath of Dedication, administered by the top postgraduate student of 2023, underscored the commitment of all graduates to their chosen paths.
His Excellency, the Governor of Assam, shared insights on the pivotal role of education, leaving attendees with valuable wisdom. His signature on the Convocation Book was a poignant seal, marking his presence and the event’s significance.
As the event concluded, gratitude flowed freely towards all participants and contributors. With the resonating strains of the National Anthem, the assembly stood in unity, marking the close of a monumental celebration.
