Online games like PUBG these days have proven to be a major cause of concern to all the guardians as the children and teenagers spend hours of their day playing them. Games that have in-app purchases to buy tokens or passes can probably lead to children running up unexpected credit card bills for parents and carers.
The case
A similar incident took place when a 16-year-old boy from the western suburb of Jogeshwari, Mumbai, purportedly spent an amount of Rs. 10 lakh through online transactions from his mother’s account to play PUBG. Hereafter, the boy was chided by his parents after which he ran away from home and before that he wrote a letter to his parents.
FIR lodged
After receiving the letter, the father of the boy approached the MIDC police station with a missing person’s complaint. As he was a minor, therefore the police registered a case of kidnapping and a search operation was launched.
Successful in tracing
However, the very next day, the crime branch succeeded in tracing him to Mahakali Caves area in Andheri (east), with the help of informants and technical analysis and then he was sent to home.
