Woman harassed inside train and then thrown off moving train

A shocking incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh, where a 32-year-old woman claims to have been thrown off a moving train after being sexually harassed by a group near Gwalior station. The Superintendent of Police in Gwalior, Rajesh Chandel, has confirmed that a case has been registered under sections 354 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to assault with intent to outrage modesty and attempt to murder, respectively.

“The woman has sustained fractures. She was accompanied by a male relative, who has not sustained serious injuries. The railway police have also been roped in to investigate the matter. We are trying to ascertain the details of the train and passenger details to apprehend the accused persons. She has not been able to give us details of the train, she just said she was headed towards Surat. We are verifying her statement,” Chandel told.

The incident occurred on Monday night, with the woman and her 23-year-old relative discovered unconscious near the railway track on the Badori railway line between Gwalior and Guna the following morning. “She is a labourer from Jharkhand and they were both headed to Surat. She told us that a group of five persons had begun clicking pictures of her,” the SP said.

To deter them, she falsely claimed that her relative was her husband and issued a warning about severe consequences. Subsequently, she moved closer to the train door. According to her account, members of the group allegedly pulled her saree when she objected, eventually leading to their forceful expulsion from the train. The police have initiated efforts to obtain CCTV footage from Muzaffarpur railway station and Lucknow to aid in identifying the accused. Further investigation is going on.

Train Ticket Examiner Suspended for Harassing Woman Passenger, Railways Initiates Inquiry

In a disturbing incident near Krishnarajapuram railway station in Bengaluru, a train ticket examiner (TT) has been suspended for allegedly harassing a woman passenger while in an inebriated state. The incident came to light after a video was shared on Twitter, which has since gone viral, capturing the ordeal faced by the woman at the hands of the TT.

According to the tweet accompanying the video, the TT, identified as Santosh, approached the woman passenger and demanded her ticket. Despite the woman showing her ticket, the TT allegedly ignored her and proceeded to pull her out of the train, displaying inappropriate behavior towards her. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for strict action against the intoxicated TT.

Co-passengers who witnessed the incident corroborated the woman’s account, stating that she was harassed by the TT despite providing proof of her valid ticket. Reports indicate that the TT was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while on duty, which raises concerns about the safety and professionalism of railway staff.

Upon learning of the incident, the Railways took immediate action by suspending the TT and launching an inquiry into the matter. The HWH SMVB express, the train in question, is a weekly service that does not normally make a stop at Krishnarajapuram station. The Railways’ decision to suspend the TT reflects their commitment to addressing such misconduct and ensuring passenger safety.

Instances of harassment and misconduct by railway staff are serious offenses that tarnish the reputation of the railway system and put passengers at risk. This incident serves as a reminder of the need for strict adherence to professional conduct and zero tolerance for such behavior within the railway workforce.

Passengers rely on railway staff to uphold their safety and well-being during their journeys. The Railways must take effective measures to prevent such incidents and ensure that all employees, including TTs, are properly trained and held accountable for their actions. Timely and appropriate action should be taken against those found guilty of misconduct, serving as a deterrent for others and restoring public trust in the railway system.

As the investigation proceeds, it is essential for the Railways to not only punish the responsible individual but also implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. Passengers deserve a safe and respectful environment while traveling, and it is the responsibility of the Railways to uphold these standards.

The suspension of the TT and the initiation of an inquiry are steps in the right direction. It is crucial that the investigation is conducted thoroughly and transparently, with the findings leading to necessary reforms and improvements in the system. The incident should serve as a wake-up call for the Railways to strengthen their mechanisms for monitoring and addressing misconduct, ensuring the well-being of passengers and maintaining the integrity of the railway service.
