WhatsApp ‘Delete for Everyone’ will get an indefinite time period, say reports

WhatsApp is reportedly operating on extending the time limit for the ‘delete for everyone’ feature. Another record indicates that the instant messaging provider from Facebook (now Meta) is rolling out a brand new video playback interface for iOS gadgets for videos shared from Instagram, YouTube, and extra such platforms.

The message delete characteristic for WhatsApp was first brought in 2017 and the ‘delete for everyone’ function’s time limit was set to seven mins and a few months later was increased to more than an hour.

WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp feature tracker, reports that the information found in WhatsApp for Android beta v2.21.23.1, the time restriction for the ‘delete for everyone’ function can be increased to an indefinite period, up from the 4,096 seconds time restrict introduced in 2018.

The tracker additionally notes that in view that this option is still under development and needs to be taken with a pinch of salt till it arrives for beta testers. There is likewise no information on the release timeline for this upcoming feature.

Previous time limit was set at 7 minutes

The ‘delete for everyone’ feature was first introduced in 2017 and then, the time limit for the feature was set to seven minutes.

This function will allow users to delete messages from personal and group chats in the world’s most popular cross-platform instant messaging app. 

Once a message is deleted, it’s changed by a notification in the chat window saying ‘This message was deleted’.

Brand new playback video interface

Another report by WABetaInfo mentions that WhatsApp on iOS is getting a brand new video playback interface. This will permit customers to pause, play the video in fullscreen, or close the picture-in-picture window. 

Some iOS beta testers on v2.21.220.15 of the app have reportedly commenced receiving this functionality. This was introduced in a beta model for Android gadgets last month.

Furthermore, the tracker reports that a few iOS beta testers may also notice a little bit of change in the YouTube videos that are played in WhatsApp. These videos will be automatically shown in full-screen mode.
