About IIMC
Indian Institute of Mass Communication is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi, India (IIMC)
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication was founded on August 17, 1965, by Smt. Indira Gandhi, then Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
It began with a small staff, along with two UNESCO consultants. In its early years, the Institute primarily provided training to Central Information Service Officers and conducted small-scale research investigations.
The Post-graduate Diploma Course in Journalism for Developing Countries, a major worldwide training programme for middle-level working journalists from Afro-Asian countries, began in 1969.
Following that, the Institute added a variety of specialised short courses ranging from one week to three months in length to satisfy the training demands of communication professionals working in various media/publicity outfits of the federal and state governments, as well as public sector organisations.
IIMC has grown throughout the years and now provides regular Post-graduate Diploma Courses.
