On Wednesday evening in Unnao, the bodies of two minor Dalit girls were found in a field in Babura Village, while a third girl found alive is battling for life in hospital. The girls had gone missing after they left home to bring fodder for cattle.
The police were informed, and the girls were rushed to the hospital right after the villagers found the bodies. Two of them were declared dead, while one was taken to Unnao hospital for treatment, informed the Superintendent of Police Anand Kulkarni, who had arrived at the spot.
Police reported that they suspected it to be a case of poisoning, with no signs of struggle at the site and no injury marks found prima facie on the girls. The brother of the girls claimed they had been found with their hands and feet tied up.
The victims’ bodies have been sent for postmortem, and an investigation is underway, police said.
