A video of a man attacking two Dalit men went viral, of which the attacker was a contender for the position of Panchayat head in Bihar’s Aurangabad district who was further detained.
Balwant Singh, the candidate, has been accused of blaming the Dalit community for his loss and assaulting two Dalit persons who supposedly did not vote for him.
Dalit man allegedly assaulted
According to the report by NDTV, Balwant is overheard saying that he bought the two voters, but they still refused to vote for him. He is shown assaulting the two men verbally and disciplining them by forcing them to do sit-ups while holding their ears.
He then assaults one of them physically and compels him to spit on the ground and lick it. He is seen grabbing his neck and dragging him to the ground.
Balwant alleged the two men were being a nuisance after they got inebriated, and he punished them after they sobered up. The footage, on the other hand, proves that Balwant was referring to having paid them.
However, The validity of the footage that appeared today cannot be independently verified.
After receiving orders from the district’s Superintendent of Police, Kantesh Kumar Mishra, the police proceeded quickly and apprehended the suspects. Mr Mishra stated that the situation is being probed.
