Reportedly, a school girl attempted suicide by jumping off from the fourth floor of her school building in Odalbakra of Guwahati.
The girl was identified to be a student of Modern High School. Under critical conditions she was immediately rushed to Hayat hospital.
Parents accuses teacher for the incident
The exact reason behind her suicide attempt is yet to be known. But the parents blame her teacher for such an incident.
They claimed that the teacher repeatedly humiliated their daughter for which she was forced to take this extreme step.
Recently, a girl from Dibrugarh University also committed suicide in her hostel room for unknown reasons.
She was a 1st semester student pursuing her master’s in the Philosophy department of Dibrugarh University.
According to a police report, this year only in Guwahati itself around 373 cases of suicide have been registered.
Therefore, the Guwahati police department has thought of introducing a helpline number for the citizens in this regard.
Further, the police department has also urged the parents to closely keep a check on their ward’s mental health and seek professional help from the police in need.
Further, the city police are seeking the full cooperation of NGOs and the media in this regard.
