In a tragic turn of events, Rinky Chakma, the winner of Miss India Tripura 2017, has passed away at the age of 28 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rinky was diagnosed with Malignant Phyllodes tumor, a form of breast cancer, in 2022.

Following her diagnosis, she underwent surgery in hopes of defeating the disease.
However, despite her efforts, cancer metastasized to her lungs and eventually spread to her head, leading to a brain tumour. In January 2024, Rinky bravely shared her cancer journey on Instagram, reaching out for financial assistance for her treatment. Her story touched many hearts, and her plea for help garnered widespread attention.
Sadly, despite the support and prayers from her well-wishers, Rinky succumbed to her illness.
The official page of the Femina Miss India pageant confirmed Rinky’s passing and expressed condolences to her family and loved ones. Rinky’s journey, marked by resilience and strength in the face of adversity, serves as a poignant reminder of the harsh realities of cancer and the importance of raising awareness and support for those battling the disease.
