A rape accused was injured during a round of police firing in the Kokrajhar district of Assam. The incident occurred on Wednesday night.
Rape accused injured in cross fire
As per reports from Pratidin Times, the accused has been identified as Afruddin Islam. The police officials took the accused to the spot where he had hidden the mobile phone of the victim wherein the entire incident was recorded.
As per the police officials, the accused snatched the service pistol from one of the police officials while they were looking for the phone in the Ranipur Tea Garden area.
The accused fired upon the police officials as a result of which police had to open fire on the accused. The rape accused sustained injury in his right leg from the exchange of guns fight.
According to reports, the police officials immediately took him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Kokrajhar Police officials arrested three boys including Afruddin Islam. They have been arrested on the grounds of Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
