Youths in Tripura took out a protest over police job scams.
Protest broke out in Tripura as youths claimed that many BJP leaders took money from them after assuring them jobs in Tripura State Rifles, an anti-insurgency force under Tripura Police.
BJP offices in Tripura raided
After the list of selected candidates was released and youths found out they did not make it to the list, they ransacked various BJP offices in the state.
Many of the protesters claimed to be BJP supporters. Also a BJP MLA from northern Tripura openly expressed his anger in the social media over the selection list, but later removed his post.
BJP offices were raided in various areas of the Gomati and South Tripura districts.
The Tripura police headquarters released a list with the names of 1,443 selected candidates including 138 women for the posts of Riflemen and Riflemen (tradesmen).
The drive was conducted to raise two new battalions of the TSR under the Indian Reserve (IR) battalion category.
As per sources, 357 out of the 1443 selected candidates whose names are on the list are from other states.
However, the state BJP is yet to respond to the allegations.
