Recently, the Goalpara police team has destroyed 70 bighas of opium cultivation at Jaikura Char under Chunari police station.
Opium cultivation destroyed during raid
The team led by AddlSP, OC Lakhipur PS, OC Chunari PS and 152 Bn CRPF personnel destroyed the cultivation.
The police team conducted a raid and destroyed the 70 Bighas of vast Opium cultivation at Jaikura Char.
Goalpara police tweeted, “#TeamGoalpara led by AddlSP, OC Lakhipur PS,OC Chunari PS n 152 Bn CRPF personnel conducted raid & destroyed #70Bighas of huge #OpiumCultivation at *Jaikura Char* under Chunari PS. #WarOnDrugs.”
The destruction of 70 bighas of opium cultivation marked another significant win in the war on drugs.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma led government has adopted a zero-tolerance stance against the drug problem and illicit drugs trade.
Recently, during another operation conducted in the Jorabat area near Guwahati huge amounts of cannabis was seized.
Cannabis weighing 3,836.5 kilograms worth around ₹5 crores and 75 lakhs was seized during the operation.
