Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s personal Twitter account was ,’briefly compromised’ according to his office, after it reposted a link advertising a bitcoin giveaway early Sunday morning.

“The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored,” PMO India tweeted.
The account has been reinstated, and all of the tweets have been removed.
Many Twitter users, including political leaders and activists, flocked to the microblogging site to share the Prime Minister’s profile message.
An unknown party hacked the Twitter account linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal website and mobile app in September 2020.
The Twitter accounts of a number of well-known Americans, including President Barack Obama, Kanye West, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk, were recently hacked with the slogan “Send Bitcoin and the famous individuals will send back twice your money.”
As it rushed to prevent the scam from spreading further, the microblogging site had to stop large sections of its service, including the ability of verified users to tweet, for a couple of hours.
