A tragic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh as a young man’s addiction to online gaming led to a heinous crime. The Fatehpur Police reported that Himanshu, deeply immersed in gaming, allegedly murdered his mother, Prabha, in a bid to claim a hefty life insurance payout of ₹50 lakh. Himanshu, burdened by mounting debts amounting to nearly ₹4 lakh due to his gaming addiction, concocted a plan to repay his creditors.
Online Gaming Addiction Leads to Heinous Matricide
According to police sources, Himanshu devised a sinister scheme where he stole his paternal aunt’s jewelry to purchase life insurance policies for his parents. When his father was away, he purportedly choked his mother to death and disposed of her body near the Yamuna river bank.
The chilling discovery was made when Roshan Singh, Himanshu’s father, returned home to find his wife and son missing, prompting him to alert the authorities. Subsequently, Prabha’s lifeless body was found, and Himanshu was apprehended by the police.
During interrogation, Himanshu confessed to his shocking crime, revealing the desperate measures he took to alleviate his financial woes caused by his gaming addiction.
