On Monday, 23rd May, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung inaugurated the Arunachal State Badminton Association’s (ASBA) two-year intense coaching program titled “Target Olympic Podium (TOP)-2028 and Beyond” at the MLA cottage indoor badminton arena.

ASBA to receive Rs 5 lakhs
The minister stated in his statement that the state government is dedicated to supporting such ambitious endeavors and that the Arunachal State Badminton Association will receive Rs 5 lakhs each year in 2022 and 2023.
Moreover, the ASBA’s official website was also launched by Natung.
According to Arunachal State Badminton Association secretary-general Bamang Tago, the organization has “started a new chapter in the history of badminton in the state with the arrival of an internationally known coach with over 25 years of expertise.”

He stated the course would “carry forward the Arunachal State Badminton Association’s purpose with 25 kids under the age of 13 who have been identified through the ‘Catch them young’ program for four years and are now in advanced skills, already representing the state in regional and national tournaments.”
Md Aras Razak, the head coach, stated that “Arunachal has a strong potential as per weeks’ assessment,” and promised to provide his best “techniques and training so that the athletes bring laurels to the state and country in the years to come.”
According to Arunachal State Badminton Association COC secretary Penya Bagra, the ASBA submitted a two-point memorandum to the minister, requesting funding for ‘Mission TOP-2028 & beyond’ and ‘improvement’ of the Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship.
