Former Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal is likely to be appointed as the Union Petroleum Minister. He is presently serving as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in his Majuli constituency.
Sonowal was the Union sports minister in the Modi government from 2014 to 2016, before taking charge as the Chief Minister of Assam, form the term 2016- 2021.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma too in an interview previously said that the experience of Sarbanada Sonowal as a former chief minister and a former Union minister will definitely be fruitful for the party.
However, there has been not made any official confirmation by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
