SOP for Durga Puja 2021

Assam’s Health Minister, Keshab Mahanta, has proposed a list of guidelines and restrictions for Assam citizens to observe during Durga Puja 2021.

“All puja committee members and those involved in organizing the festivals will have to be vaccinated with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine and the vaccination certificate has to be submitted with the application for acquiring permission for puja celebration,” Keshab Mahanta said.

New guidelines

Before holding the puja, committees must obtain permission from the DC.

When applying for authorization to organize the puja, all members of the puja committee must submit their COVID19 vaccination certificate (for at least one vaccine dosage) to DC.

To maintain social distance, the puja mandap must be open on all sides and large. Each Mandap has its entrance and exit gates.

Sanitizers and masks should be provided by the Puja Committee at the pandal entry gates and should only be offered to persons who are wearing masks.

There will be no Melas or Bazars allowed.

All pujaris and people affiliated with the puja will be tested for COVID19 on the day of Panchami. After the Dashami, they will be tested once more.

The puja committee would be notified on Visarjan day by the DCs of the respective districts.

No assembling is permitted

The curfew will stay in effect until further notice, starting at 9:00 p.m. Furthermore, the puja practices must be finished within the period allotted.

The minister has advised the Puja committee organizers to adhere to the protocols. Before and after the Puja, the Mandap and Pandals must be sanitized.

The statutes should not be excessively long, and no cultural programs are permitted.

These protocols do not apply to citizens under the age of 18.

The state government has urged the organizers to ensure that the idols of the gods and goddesses are not very large so that many people aren’t needed for their immersion.
