On Sunday, Margherita police confiscated a Maruti Omni van with eight bags of coal hidden inside.
Libian Gogoi (30) and Krishna Kt Deb (32), both inhabitants of Margherita, were arrested by the police.
What happened in Margherita?
According to sources, police intercepted a maruti omni van with registration number (AS 23A 4121) on Changlang Margherita near Namdang Colliery, which was laden with illegal coal, based on specific information.
The vehicle was seized, and both criminals were taken to the Margherita Police Station.
Both of the caught coal thieves will be sent to judicial custody, according to case number 269/2021.
Earlier incidents
On November 21, police in Margherita, Assam, confiscated seven sacks of coal unlawfully placed in a Tata Magic Passenger car.
Officer in charge of the Margherita Police Station, Someswar Konwar, acted on a tip and confiscated the vehicle, which had the coal hidden inside the passenger seat.
The vehicle was said to be coming from Namdang, which is under the jurisdiction of the Margherita Police Station. The driver, on the other hand, managed to flee the scene before being apprehended.
