Mangaluru International Airport Seizes Gold Worth Rs 16.21 lakh

On Saturday, Customs officials  at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized gold weighing 335 grams, estimated value at Rs 16,21,400.

Gold was seized from a passenger of Dubai

Mangaluru International Airport

The gold was seized from a passenger of Dubai, on Saturday the passenger arrived at Mangaluru airport by Air India Express flight No IX 384 from Dubai.

However, the gold was being smuggled through hiding it in bolts and wheel connecting rods in 2 skating boards from the passenger, recognized as Muhammed Navas from Muliyar, Kasaragod in Kerala.

Who initiated the operation?

According to a Custom released, the operations were directed by Customs superintendent M Manokarthayini, along with superintendents B M Nagesh Kumar, Virag Shukla, V S Ajith Kumar, P C Padhi,Naveen Kumar, Subhendu Ranjan Behera,Satish Kumar and inspector Prafull Mittal. 

The operations were conducted under the guidance of Customs Commissioner Imamuddin Ahmad. Additionally, investigation is under progress.

Commissioner appreciated the efforts

The officers were checking smuggling by inspecting different sorts of modus operandi adopted by the unscrupulous elements to bring gold into the country illegally.The Commissioner appreciated the efforts made by the officers.
