Assam: Olympic Medalist Lovlina Borgohain receives cheerful welcome with a “bike rally” at her hometown

TNEC Exclusive: After the historic winning of Assam girl Lovlina Borgohain in Tokyo Olympics 2021, On 17th August, a bike rally event has been organized at her hometown Golaghat’s Barpathar to welcome her with utter cheerfulness.

Lovlina Borgohein’s victory is being hailed throughout the nation. She is the first woman and the 5th athlete from Assam, who qualified for the Olympics.

Lovlina Borgohain was not able to meet family members in her last visit to Assam

Although the Olympic bronze medalist returned to Guwahati on August 12th she was not been able to meet her family members as she was caught up with felicitation programmes held in Guwahati.

Lovlina Borgohain will be welcomed by officials

Decorations and arrangements have been prepared at Baromukhiya village of Golaghat district for Lovlina Borgohain as she will be at home after more than a year.

According to reports, She will be welcomed by Golaghat Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police along with Ministers and political leaders from Golaghat. 

Previously Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma had also organized a cycle rally to encourage her

While Lovlina was on the way to compete in TokyoAssam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led a cycle rally titled “Go for Glory, Lovlina” in Guwahati, to encourage her and wish her success. That rally was joined by ministers and MLAs, irrespective of parties

Additionally, Lovlina defeated Nien-Chin Chen in the welterweight category via a 4:1 split decision. Being the second Indian female boxer to win a medal, winning the Bronze medal at Tokyo 2020. She has become an immense source of joy and accomplishment for people in her hometown.
