Chief Minister’s tweets on labour day
The 1st of May is considered a day dedicated to all the workers and labourers across the globe to celebrate the spread of awareness about their rights.
Ashok Gehlot who is the Chief Minister of Rajasthan thanked the labourers and workers of his state for their immense contribution and hard work. He tweeted, “on internationational labour day, greetings to our hard-working labour force, who toil day and night contributing immensely to the progress of our nation. We also renew our commitments towards the welfare of our labourers and to bring prosperity in their lives.”
Similar tweets were also shared by other chief ministers of the state.
The celebration of this day has its roots in the union movement of the United States. The union protested against the 16-hour work shift and demanded an 8-hour workday instead in 1886. Since that day, the 1st of May is celebrated as day to honour labourers.
