The Assam Kaziranga University Hosts 9th Convocation Ceremony, Honors Graduating Batch of 2023

Koraikhowa, Jorhat – The Assam Kaziranga University, one of the leading educational institutions in Northeast India, proudly organized its 9th convocation ceremony on July 11, 2023. The ceremony commemorated the remarkable achievements of the Graduating Batch of 2023, including a total of 665 students, including PhD candidates. It marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the university, celebrating the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

The grand convocation ceremony took place at the Kaziranga university’s scenic campus in Koraikhowa, Jorhat. The event was inaugurated by Shri Basant Khetan, the esteemed Chancellor of the university, who opened the ceremony with an inspiring address. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam. Dr. Sarma extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students and emphasized the pivotal role universities play in the overall development of society. He spoke passionately about the rich civilization of India and the responsibility each individual has to carry forward knowledge and wisdom. The Chief Minister lauded the university’s management and infrastructure while commending its significant contributions to higher education in the northeastern region. Dr. P K Mishra, the Vice Chancellor of The Assam Kaziranga University, addressed the gathering with words of appreciation and pride for the graduating students. Dr. Abhay Bang, a renowned doctor recognized for his social work, public health activism, and community health research, was honored for his significant contributions as a change-maker. In absentia, Shri Sonam Wangchuk, a Mechanical Engineer and renowned figure in education reform and environmental conservation, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his innovative mindset and dedication to bringing about positive change.

The convocation ceremony was graced by the presence of several esteemed personalities, including Ms. Rainy Khetan, the Director of Kaziranga University, Shri Bimal Borah, the Honorable Minister of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department & Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, Professor Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Education Adviser to the Government of Assam, Shri Shyankanu Mahanta, a member of the university’s governing body, Dr. Prashant Goswami, also a member of the governing body, and Shri Shantikam Hazarika, another member of the governing body.
