Online registration process for Ishan Uday Scholarship for the session 2021-22 has started. Interested students can apply for the scholarship from now onwards. 

The University Grants Commission (UGC) launched the special scholarship scheme for the students of the North Eastern Region.This scheme promotes higher education and encourages children belonging to economically weaker sections of the NE region.

Students shall apply before it’s last date of submission of application which is 30th November 2021.This scholarship assists students from Assam and North East Region to complete their higher education. 

However, application mode is online.

Before applying online for the Ishan Uday scholarship students are recommended to read the official notification of UGC Scholarship Guidelines properly.

Every year a total of 10,000 fresh scholarships are disbursed Under Ishan Uday scholarship scheme who are seeking general degree courses, professional and technical courses, including medical and paramedical courses. This scheme focuses more on professional education in the NE Region.

The Ishan Uday Scholarship amount

Scholarship amount of ₹ 7,800 for Technical & Professional courses (including Medical & Para medical courses) will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and ₹ 5,400 per month will be given to each student those who are pursuing for general degree courses.

This scholarship is for North Eastern regions. Eligible states for the scholarship are Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim.

Eligibility Criteria for the Ishan Uday Scholarship

Students with domicile of North Eastern Region who have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within North Eastern Region through any recognized Board of Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),National institute of open Schooling (NIOS),Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) within NER only, 

And those who obtained admission in general degree course, technical and professional courses including medical and paramedical courses (Integrated courses included) in Universities/Colleges/Institutions recognized as under:

A) Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act.

B) Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC.

C) Institutions/Universities/Colleges funded by the Central / State Government.

D) Institutes of National Importance.

E) Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outside.

However, only 1st year Under-graduate students are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

For integrated degree courses the scholarship will be defensible for the complete duration of the course. For dual degree courses the scholarship shall be defensible for the 1st degree only, university shall clarify it while recommending a candidate for scholarship.

To avail scholarship under this scheme, the income of the parents of the student should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.

Important information

1) Students pursuing courses/programs through Open Universities.

2) Students already availing scholarship for pursuing the Undergraduate programme under any other scheme(s).

3) Students gaining admission through ‘management quota’.

4) Students pursuing courses, such as Diploma Courses, not leading to award of a Degree.

5) Students whose parents’ income exceeds Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.

How to Apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship?

The interested candidates need to visit the official national scholarship portal https://scholarships.gov.in for submission of online application for this scholarship. 

1)First scroll down, go to the Important Web Links section.

2) Click on the Online Application link .

3) After that a new webpage will be opened.

4) Click on the “New Registration” link .

5) Enter your details as required in the portal and register yourself.

6) After registration, enter all credentials and upload your documents as required in the portal.

7) Finally click on “Submit” and take print out of your submitted application for further references.

 The students have to upload the following documents for applying under the scheme; 

Domicile certificate to be issued by the competent authority, proof of annual income to be issued by the competent authority. For renewals, the annual progress report and continuation of studies will be required to be uploaded/ verified by the concerned University/ Institution/ College.
