So far, 1,409 persons have recovered or relocated from the Omicron instances that have been documented.

Alarming rate of infection spread

Due to the fast-spreading Omicron form, which was originally found in Botswana and South Africa, Covid cases have been on the rise since late last year. According to an AFP assessment based on official numbers, the total number of Covid-19 cases documented worldwide since the outbreak began surpassed 300 million on Friday.

Despite the rising number of cases and the novel Omicron type in the state, Health Minister Veena George has ruled out a complete lockdown.

“Our state’s and people’s economic activity cannot be impeded at this time. To avoid a state-wide shutdown, we need to work together. We have no plans to implement a lockdown at this time “She informed the press.
