IMD issues rainfall warning from 1st June

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted a rise in rainfall in Northeast India from the beginning June 1 with the onset of Southwest Monsoon in the coming days. The IMD issued the statement on the 31st of May 2022.

MET department stated, “low-level Southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeast India are very likely to strengthen from 2nd June” and fall activity is predicted to rise over Northeast India.

Rainfall to increase from June 1 over NE

“Rainfall activity is likely to increase over Northeast India from tomorrow, the 1st June, 2022 with widespread light/moderate fall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Assam and Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 02nd-04th June,” stated IMD.

IMD forecasted scattered heavy fall in Mizoram and Tripura from May 31 to June 2, as well as Arunachal Pradesh from June 1 to June 4.
