IIT Guwahati Launches Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp Program
GUWAHATI, 22nd June 2023: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has launched a five-day residential bootcamp program on Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) from 22nd to 26th June 2023. The program is jointly organized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), aiming to provide intense experiential training to innovator students, teachers, and faculty members from higher education institutes and schools.
During the inaugural session, Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati said, “IIT Guwahati is proud to be a part of this essential activity to promote entrepreneurial culture in our country. We welcome AICTE and MIC’s primary objective of supporting young innovators to shape their innovative ideas to turn them into entrepreneurs. In this residential program being hosted by IIT Guwahati, we have curated masterclasses, and special lectures for all baskets of the audience to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship in all participants.”
Intensive Experiential Training for Innovators: Focus on Design Thinking and Business Modeling
Aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission, the IDE bootcamp program caters to innovators aspiring to explore the path of entrepreneurship and become job creators. Participants will undergo experiential training in various areas such as design thinking, product design, ergonomics, business modeling, enterprise planning, value propositions, and international markets.
A notable highlight of the bootcamp is the mentoring and pitching rounds, where participants will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and receive potential mentoring support from the institute. The top five pitch ideas will be acknowledged with appreciation certificates, while all participants will receive participation certificates jointly provided by AICTE and IIT Guwahati.
Dr. Deepak Sharma, Faculty Coordinator at IIT Guwahati said, “The participants will get experiential training on designing thinking and its strategies, product design and engineering, ergonomics in product design and development, building sustainable business model, value proposition, international markets, IDEA pitching, etc. Lecture sessions, activities, leadership talks, sessions on product design pitching and pitch presentations are planned throughout the five days of the program. Moreover, the participants will get the opportunity to experience the vibrant environment of the campus and also, to interact with IIT faculty members and students.”
The IDE Bootcamp program is being organized simultaneously in six different parts of the country, with approximately 1,800 participants selected by AICTE. IIT Guwahati is one of the host institutes accommodating around 230 innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Eminent Personalities from Diverse Domains Share Expertise at IDE Bootcamp Program
Supporting the learning sessions during the bootcamp is the Wadhwani Foundation, while eminent personalities from various domains will contribute their knowledge and expertise. The program will feature speakers such as Soumen Das, Founder of Bhavishya; Ritu Raj Phukan, Founder of Pencil Design Studio; Pankaj Gogoi, Founder of Redlemon Technologies; Dr. Umesh Sharma, Scientist at DST; Dr. Taranjeet Kaur, Senior Manager at DBT-BIRAC; Prof. Sukhomay Pal, Coordinator at TOCIC-IIT Guwahati; Bismita Nayak, Lead – Immersive Technologies of Godrej & Boyce; Prof. S. Kanagaraj, Faculty at IIT Guwahati; and Dr. Mohd Zaheer Khan Yusufzai, Faculty at IIT Bhubaneshwar.
